What makes your body sweat, heart race, puts every sense on high alert, and lasts 15-30 minutes?
Laser tag, of course.
Acadiana Lanes just opened LaserTron, its brand new, multi-level laser tag arena, and it is all excitement from second one. An inexpensive date night or a battle royale amongst friends, the new attraction is a blood-pumping experience all University of Louisiana at Lafayette students can try.
From the briefing room where you learn your mission and rules, to shooting your enemies and executing strategies with your team, the experience feels like a video game come to life.
Upon entry, players are immersed in a hazy, darkened room with obstacles throughout either level to use for hiding from enemies, or awaiting an attack. You can maneuver through the obstacles, trying not to get hit, to earn points by shooting opponents or the other team’s base. With different game modes and even gun firing modes, the methods and rules for play can be as different and intricate as you want them to be, or as simple as a free-for-all.
Jacob LeMeunier, a junior majoring in finance at UL Lafayette, said his experience playing laser tag was a lot of fun.
“I hope I can go back soon and get some more of my friends to go too,” said LeMeunier.
LaserTron is unlike anything Lafayette offers currently and with prices as low as $5 for 15 minute sessions on Monday through Thursday, it has everything a college student could want; it’s inexpensive, a stress-reliever and you can shoot your friends for fun. The cost is $10 for a 30-minute session on Monday through Thursday, with a $2 increase to the 15-minute session and a $6 increase to the 30-minute one on the weekend. LaserTron also offers Sunday evening prices, the same as Monday through Thursday pricing.
The addition of LaserTron comes as part of the renovation of Acadiana Lanes that took place from August to October of last year. Besides the thrilling action of laser tag, the bowling alley has new and improved seating and screens, Intercard gift cards for use at the also improved arcade, lanes and laser tag, and new technology features such as computer systems at each alley for personalized photos and game play.
